4 Celebrities Who Rock Colored Diamond Engagement Rings

July 10th, 2013 by Noam Flint

Celebrities are known for having the flashiest cars, homes and wardrobes, so it’s no wonder that when a star gets engaged, she wants something big, over-the-top and unique sitting on her finger. While massive white diamonds were once the norm, colorful gems seem to be all the rage in Hollywood lately. From stunning canary diamonds to natural pink gemstones, colored diamonds have become a true Hollywood favorite. Here are a few of the best and brightest of all time:

Carrie Underwood

“American Idol” winner and country music star Carrie Underwood burst onto the scene thanks to her good looks and her powerful voice. While the Southern starlet stayed out of the press for much of her career, she was unable to hide her enormous engagement ring when her now-husband Mike Fisher proposed in 2009.

According to People magazine, Underwood first debuted her massive 5-plus carat canary diamond ring while attending Fisher’s hockey game December 22, 2009. The round yellow diamond is surrounded by a circle of smaller square diamonds and sits on a delicate diamond band. The creation, designed by Johnathon Arndt, is estimated to have cost around $150,000. Underwood’s wedding band was also custom made to perfectly fit around the stunning engagement ring.

Heidi Klum

Even though model and TV host Heidi Klum’s seven-year marriage to Seal ended in late 2012, she still has a fabulous engagement ring to remember happier times with. According to Famous Diamonds, Klum’s exclusive canary diamond was crafted specifically for her finger to ensure the oval cut-bauble looked perfect on her elegant hand.

The ring is reportedly set with a massive 10-carat yellow diamond (although some sources list it as being 8 carats) and boasts a gold band with smaller yellow diamonds surrounding it. The ring, estimated to be worth around $150,000, was designed by jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. The stunning gift was presented to Klum when she and Seal were on a romantic Canadian ski vacation in 2004. Seal opted to build an igloo in the mountains for his bride-to-be and had a helicopter transport them to the site so he could get down on one knee with a breathtaking colored diamond.

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez might have grown up with modest taste, but since making a name for herself in the late 1990s, she’s become accustomed to the finer things in life. The actress, singer and former “American Idol” judge might be unlucky when it comes to making a marriage work, but she certainly gained plenty of priceless jewelry from her three trips down the aisle.

Lopez got engaged to actor Ben Affleck in 2002. Us Weekly reports the pair dated from 2002 to 2004 and got engaged during the courtship before ultimately parting ways. However, the almost-Mrs. Affleck did garner plenty of attention during their relationship thanks to the impressive 6.1-carat pink diamond engagement ring she was presented with.

The stunning ring was worth an estimated $1.2 million and was created by the iconic Harry Winston. The emerald-cut pink diamond was surrounded by two smaller emerald-cut diamonds on either side, making it stand out from any angle. Lopez reportedly returned the ring to Affleck following their break-up. We can only hope for him that he kept the diamond for investment as today it is worth many times over!

Luckily for Lopez, Cupid’s arrow struck her again when she met her now ex-husband Marc Anthony. This was Lopez’s longest marriage to date – she and Anthony tied the knot in June 2004 and called it quits in July 2011. Even though her engagement ring from Anthony was spectacular, it was a ring given to her on their first wedding anniversary that truly stole the diva’s heart.

Anthony presented his then-bride with a remarkable 14-carat blue diamond ring worth more than $4 million, according to Savvy Sugar. The light blue stone had a personality of its own thanks to its massive size and rarity – the latter even impressed Lopez.

“My favorite piece of jewelry that I own is a ring my husband gave me for our first anniversary,” Lopez told British OK! magazine. “It’s a solitaire, a 14-carat blue diamond ring, a very rare diamond. It was a big deal, I’d been married a year.”

According to Diamond Envy, Anthony also gave Lopez with impressive 30-carat yellow diamond ring following the birth of their twins, Max and Emme in February 2008.

Mariah Carey

When it comes to diamonds and all things sparkly, the only woman (other than Liz Taylor) who could battle Lopez is Mariah Carey. The celebrated singer got more than just the man of her dreams when she got engaged to Nick Cannon in March 2008; she also got a massive ring. The couple, who married just two weeks after getting engaged, must have known their love was going to last – Carey at least knew she wanted to keep her stunning pink ring.

According to CNN, the diva’s engagement ring features a huge emerald-cut pink diamond flanked by two half-moon white diamond side stones. The larger diamonds are then surround by 58 pave-set pink diamonds that add even more shine to the already impressive ring.
