Rare jewels from Alexandre Reza collection set to dazzle on display

August 8th, 2013 by Noam Flint

Alexandre Reza is one jeweler who has helped set the standards in regards to gorgeous and unique pieces that are just as stunning as they are delicate. According to Town & Country magazine, Reza began to make a name for himself as a renowned jeweler and gem merchant in the 1950s and ’60s.

Reza’s gifted eye and talent made him the master of diamonds and other gemstones, securing his position as the man to watch for other up-and-coming jewelry design houses like Harry Winston, Boucheron and Cartier. While Reza’s son, Olivier, now runs the family business, it’s Reza’s pieces that will soon be on display during a special exhibit.

Diamonds on display

The rare diamond and gemstone pieces that belong to the Alexandre Reza jewelry house will soon be featured in an exhibit called “The Extraordinary Jewelry of Alexandre Reza” that will offer diamond enthusiasts a chance to see some of these priceless items firsthand. The exhibit will run at Sotheby’s in New York City from Nov. 2 though 14 and will then continue its journey to Sotheby’s global facilities, including locations in London, Doha and Beijing, throughout 2014.

Even though the majority of the exhibit will focus on the work of Alexandre Reza, Olivier also admitted those who attend the show will get to view some newer pieces as well.

“My family and I are honored to partner with Sotheby’s and share both the Alexandre Reza archives and new creations with jewelry collectors around the world,” Olivier said in a statement. “Carefully curated, this exhibition will showcase my father’s legacy as a jeweler, and the work that we create today in his honor. Our passion for connecting high-quality craftsmanship with superb raw material, combined with impeccable design will forever remain the cornerstone of our house.”
