Diamonds likely in the mix for Duchess of Cambridge’s push present

The world waited patiently for the arrival of the first child of Will and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. News broke in the late afternoon on July 22, with palace officials announcing Will and Kate had welcomed a baby boy at 4:24 p.m. London time. The child weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and left St. Mary’s Hospital in London on July 23.

Though many fans anxiously awaited the first glimpse of the child and the initial uttering of his name, others are speculating on what type of gifts Kate will be given for having the baby.

Push presents fit for royalty

It may be hard to think of a present for a woman who has everything, but many are reporting William will give his wife sparkling jewelry. According to Now magazine, some experts have suggested that William will present Kate with multiple diamond pieces as well as a new vacation home where the happy family can enjoy some peace and quiet away from the public eye. Up until now, Kate has been borrowing royal jewelry to wear to various events, so these present will be some of her first personal pieces to marvel at.

“He’ll commission a new set to celebrate the birth of their first child, having already received permission directly from the Queen,” a source told the magazine regarding Kate’s special presents. “Kate will be given a sparkly new tiara, earrings, bracelets and rings, which she’ll wear for significant occasions – most importantly when William finally ascends to the throne.”

Notable royal jewels of the past

William certainly has a lot to live up to in terms of picking out fabulous white and colored diamonds to give his wife following the birth of their son. The royal family has a long history of wearing stunning custom jewels, so Kate’s new accessories are surely going to impress as well. One of the most famous piece’s worn by royalty is the Williamson Diamond Brooch.

According to the Royal Collection Trust, this stunning pin features the finest pink diamond discovered to date. The uncut stone, which weighed in at more than 54-carats, was presented by Canadian geologist Dr. John Thorburn Williamson to Queen Elizabeth in 1947 as a wedding present. The queen then had the diamond cut and set in the flower pin.

Other gems worn by the royal family include the Delhi Durbar Necklace with the Cullinan VII Pendant, the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and Queen Victoria’s Fringe Brooch.
